Historically, United Way of Broome County’s Day of Caring takes place on or around September 11 to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and remember the heroes that arose from that day. This year our community was able to come together to volunteer on Friday, September 10, and Saturday, September 11. Thanks to the kindness and dedication of those in Broome County, over 350 volunteers came together for a total of 1,225 hours. That’s worth $40,633 of volunteer time!*
Take a glimpse inside Day of Caring 2021:
This year’s Day of Caring event was celebrated throughout September, with a Baby Supply Drive that collected donations of new baby items. Thanks to the participation of area businesses, families, and individuals, hundreds of items were donated and will be distributed to those in need through the following nonprofit agencies in our community:
- Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network
- Life Choices Center
- Catholic Charities of Broome County
- Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church
- Citizen Action Food Pantry
