The Full Plate Project
Become a hunger hero…and together we can change the story
Full Plate = Full Potential
The mission of THE FULL PLATE PROJECT is to combat food insecurity by raising awareness and funds to support individuals and our community in need. We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and we are committed to fighting hunger by partnering with organizations, supporting initiatives, and raising awareness about the root causes of food insecurity. Through our collective efforts, we strive to create a Broome County where no one goes hungry, and everyone has a full plate.
More than 8,000 children in Broome County live in households that struggle to put food on the table. And the effects can be devastating – from poor health and malnourishment, to impaired child development and overall well-being. The burden of household food insecurity is disproportionately high among racial and ethnic minority groups, particularly among Black non-Hispanics and Hispanic Households; nearly 50% of Black or African American households in Broome County have low access to food.
Through the annual THE FULL PLATE PROJECT initiative we have invested over $179,000 in the community through food insecurity programs, ensuring access to healthy foods and reducing hunger in our community.
