Boo! at Barta: Halloween Fun and Learning at the Lee Barta Community Center

On October 28, the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition will be hosting Boo! at Barta at the Lee Barta Community Center. Located at 108 Liberty Street in Binghamton, this event aims to promote community engagement and interaction through various exciting activities.

WHAT’S INSTORE:

9:00 am-9:45 am: Community Champions Breakfast Residents will gather to discuss plans for future programming and events at the Lee Barta Community Center. Programs and events are designed to cater to the needs and interests of community members, your voice matters!

 

10:00 am-11:30 am: Finding a Balance This fun and interactive workshop series hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension allows participants to learn about different approaches to managing and living with diabetes. Participants will also have the opportunity to actively make and eat a healthy meal. 

 

1:30 pm-3:30 pm: Bike Clinic Community members are invited to bring their bikes to the center for small repairs and learn more about the Fresh Cycles program, including Open Shop and Earn-A-Bike. Squeaky breaks and flat tires are welcomed!

2:45 pm-4:30 pm: Family Fun Activities Did you know that over fifty percent of children in our community are not ready for kindergarten? “Read for the Record” aims to raise awareness about the importance and impact of early literacy. Snacks, crafts, and goodie bags are just some of the fun you can take home with you!

 

While not a requirement, participants are invited to dress up for the occasion. Boo at Barta acts as a grand reopening of the Lee Barta Community Center since the effects of COVID-19 impacted the Coalition’s ability to hold in-person events and programming. Moving forward, regular programming will include an Out of School Enrichment Program for youth, lunch and learn events for community members, CHOW pantry, and the Fresh Cycles program.
