The Emerging Leaders Society and Their Impact

Jan 11, 2022 | Blog

There is no better time than now to start your professional journey. United Way of Broome County’s Emerging Leaders Society aims to gather like-minded young professionals to network together, all while making a difference.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS OUR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ARE UP TO:

Networking Events ELS’s events vary in style, including Networking Plus events held at locally-owned restaurants, or fun outdoor events like kickball and minigolf! These events are used to gather, network, and give back. Proceeds and donations from events are then allocated to local nonprofits.

Tabling Local Events You will often catch Emerging Leaders Society members at many local events in the community, including the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Summit and Hype Awards. Keep an eye out; you might be able to walk away with some pretty cool swag!

Giving Back If you ask any member, their favorite part about ELS is having the ability to give back in many diverse ways. Members volunteer to support United Way’s days of service, the Lee Barta Community Center, and local nonprofits. Additionally, the Emerging Leaders Society has had a significant impact on United Way of Broome County’s Annual Community Campaign, having contributed over $8,700 in the 2020-2021 fiscal year!

And so much more!

ELS consists of many committees, including professional development, volunteer, marketing, leadership, and event planning. No matter your interest, there’s a place for you! Apply to be an ELS member today.
