Young professionals are the future leaders of our community, paving the way for generations to come. At United Way of Broome County, we recognize the importance of collaboration between young professionals in our area. The Emerging Leader’s Society aims to bring together young adults to network, volunteer, and create change.
There are many different ways you can take part in the Emerging Leader’s Society. Internal committees consist of leadership development, marketing, volunteer, with even some opportunities to hold executive roles.
MEET SOME OF OUR EMERGING LEADER’S SOCIETY MEMBERS
“I first heard about Emerging Leaders Society at the 2018 YP Summit and joined the Leadership Committee in January of 2019. I wanted to join ELS to meet new, like-minded people and positively impact our community.
ELS has introduced me to so many incredible people that I am lucky to now call friends. It has given me opportunities to volunteer and get involved in our community in ways I would never have had otherwise. It has made me a better person and a better leader.
When I am not having fun with ELS, I am a Commercial Account Manager with Smith Brothers Insurance.”
“I became a member in 2017 and joined multiple committees shortly after to work alongside other philanthropy-oriented individuals building a better Broome County. ELS fits with my philosophy of doing what I can to make the world a better place than how I found it.
In my spare time, I am a financial advisor through Primerica and also volunteer as a Certified Mentor with SCORE, where I help people interested in starting or improving small businesses and nonprofits.”
“I joined Emerging Leaders Society a year and a half ago to help out in the local community with other like-minded young professionals.
As a Volunteer Committee member, I go out into the community or engage in virtual fundraising opportunities to benefit other not-for-profit organizations in the Broome County area.
When I am not volunteering my time with ELS, I am the Director of Finance at AVRE, a local nonprofit in Binghamton, NY.”
“I joined just under a year ago. I wanted to join the Emerging Leaders Society because I want to network with other like-minded young professionals and continue to grow professionally.
Marketing Committee plans the networking events at least two times per year. We also are in charge of promoting ELS and gaining interaction on our social media pages.
When I am not dedicating time to ELS, I am running my own insurance agency. Come find me at Alexa Langeland State Farm in Vestal.
