Managing COVID-19 During the Summer Months

Aug 4, 2020 | Blog

It’s tough to beat the heat when it seems like there is no escape to the effects that COVID-19 has had on the summer months. Even with social distancing in full force, there are still ways to make it a great summer!

Having a tough time thinking of activities to do with friends and family? Here are some fun ideas to do, from a safe distance:

  • Go for a hike
  • Visit a drive-in theatre
  • Go on a picnic
  • Try golfing
  • Ride bikes

What has your work environment looked like this summer? Whether you are back to your typical workday, or still holding Zoom meeting calls out of your dining room, it is essential to keep your workspace clean and motivating.

Here are some tips to help your workday go a little smoother this summer:

  • Keep a clean workspace. A cluttered space leads to misplaced papers and added stress! Make it a goal each day to keep your area tidy. (P.S. This can also apply to your computer. When was the last time you cleaned up your desktop?)
  • Vacation time? Make sure you’re using it! According to ustravel.org, Americans lose almost 658 million vacation days per year. While it is easy to get lost in day to day work, make sure that you are also taking care of yourself.
  • Feeling overworked? Take a step away! It’s easy to sit at a computer for hours on end without even thinking about taking a break or getting up to stretch. Take a quick walk outside periodically.
  • Maintain a normal schedule. Creating this habit for yourself helps maintain work-life balance, and distinguishes the workday from personal time.

Whether you’re in the office or at home, during the workday or at closing time, remember to stay safe and follow your area’s laws and policies.

It’s important to keep an open mind during this time of constant changes. Remember that you are not in this alone, and together, we will come out stronger, more United.
