WHAT IS DAY OF CARING?

Day of Caring is the single largest two days of community impact event in Broome County! On September 13 and 14, volunteers will fan out to locations across the community to complete service projects. United Way of Broome County is turning to you to make things happen!

Last year, 1,376 volunteers participated in Day of Caring, providing over 5,525 volunteer hours with an approximate value of $161,275 for our community. (Using the New York State hourly volunteer value as determined by Independent Sector.)

GET INVOLVED!

Submit a Project:

Currently, United Way of Broome County is accepting registration for organizations interested in hosting a volunteer project, including local health and human service agencies, schools, parks, churches, and attractions throughout Broome County. Past project types have covered a vast array, from reading with children, to assisting with business mailings, gardening, painting, and beautification/improvement projects, each aligning with one of United Way’s Building Blocks – Health, Education and Financial Stability.

Volunteer:

United Way of Broome County is currently seeking volunteers and volunteer groups from area businesses looking to share their time and talents to help local organizations. With the choice of a full day, morning or afternoon projects available; volunteers participating in Day of Caring are sure to make lasting change in our community. Volunteer individually or get a group of friends, neighbors, family, and co-workers to volunteer together! Regardless of how you choose to volunteer, you will be paired with a project right here in Broome County that will have a lasting impact!

Day of Caring provides a unique opportunity for local organizations, as many of these projects would not be possible without the large volunteer workforce mobilized for the event. For more than a decade, this event has mobilized nearly 1,000 volunteers annually, creating a lasting impact on organizations across Broome County. Anyone interested in participating in this year’s Day of Caring is encouraged to visit uwbroome.org/day-caring for additional details and online registration.
