The Teaming 4 Technology (Team Tech) program helps nonprofit organizations in Broome County increase the impact of their program services through effective use of technology. As a United Way-funded program, Teaming for Technology has helped local organizations with their computing and technological needs since 1999, with the hands on technical assistance provided by the program’s two part-time staff members.
Teaming for Technology began as a national partnership among IBM, AmeriCorps/VISTA, Public Allies, and United Way of America. Its goal was to enhance the ability of health and human service nonprofit agencies to deliver services, manage costs, and maximize effectiveness by providing technology, planning, and training. United Way of Broome County's program began as the local coordinating organization for this effort. When the national program was ended, the Broome County United Way, recognizing the value to nonprofits, decided to keep the program running locally.
Over the years, Teaming for Technology has worked with nearly 50 local agencies to provide free assistance with their various technology needs including:
- Database management, repair and conversions
- Software installation and upgrades
- Hardware installation and repair
- Network setup and troubleshooting
- Data recovery
- Technology planning
